Future of newspapers is digital: MurdochIt is clear that revenue from print news is declining. You have probably heard by now that Rupert Murdoch is looking to charge for news content. Think about the following trends: Open Source Software - people gather together to build software by collaborating with each other, and in return, every one gets to use this software free. Wikipedia - people contribute their knowledge to one encyclopedia and in return every one gets to use this collective knowledge free. Creative Summons - people contribute their creative properties for others to use in their own works and in return, they also get to use other people's works for free. There is a trend of collaboration. And so there should be. I believe that such organisations are more efficient with regards to the use of humanity's intellectual property. There will always be journalists, or people who can perform the role, to provide news for free in return for some perceived benefit. |
